After months of anticipation (yeah, I know most of you didn’t know about it, but anticipation on our side!) the new liberal community, PoliticalCortex.com, is officially launched.

In the great traditions of Daily Kos, Unbossed, Booman Tribune, Street Prophets, My Left Wing, and others, PoliticalCortex.com seeks to strengthen the liberal presence in the blogosphere.

Like the aforementioned sites, PoliticalCortex.com is a Scoop site, where you can post diaries, recommend stories, comment, and spread some mojo love.
BE A FRONT PAGE POSTER
Unlike other communities though, PoliticalCortex.com gives you a unique opportunity to be a front-page poster yourself! Separate from the Recommended Diaries feature is an exclusive section where you can submit your own articles.

There, you can receive editorial feedback, suggestions, etc. and eventually, votes.  The community itself then gets to vote what it deems worthy of the front-page.  Top-rated submission are popped right up to the front page, next to the Featured Writers, equal in weight and prominence.

GET YOUR BREAKING NEWS FIX
PoliticalCortex.com also features a “Nerve Center” where you post breaking news and quick posts.  No word limits here, just a link and a blurb will do to spark discussion on the latest, breaking news.  And no more need for “BREAKING” titles either 🙂

A FOCUS ON ACTIVISM
The site also feature a special filter, “Code Blue”.  You submit an action item through the voting process.  If enough people deem it appropriate, they can vote it into “Code Blue” which is the activist core of the site.  By clicking on “Code Blue”, you can choose to see only petitions, call-in campaign, and other action items where you can actually make a difference.

The founding members of PoliticalCortex.com represent a diversity in gender, age, and experience.  The site’s creator and administrator is Tom Ball, who formerly operated PoliticalStrategy.org.  The Featured Writers of the site are:

PoliticalCortex.com will join the other liberal communities in the Vast-Left Wing Conspiracy of taking over the internets.  Actually, the reality is that while the right may have talk radio and the corporate media, we liberals have the internet.  A growing network of liberal communities will provide us with the framework and influence we need to win in 2006 and 2008.  PoliticalCortex.com is just another piece in that framework, and it’s a critical one.  Because each new community, from DailyKos to Booman Trib to the Cortex itself, helps us get our message out.
