I just read mole333’s diary Why is Brooklyn Burning? Neglect or Arson…NYC is Failing its Poor Communities. You may have heard of the huge Brooklyn waterfront fire that still smolders today, several days after it started. It’s not the ONLY fire in Brooklyn. Not this time OR next time. Mole333 worries that “What is happening may be a version of the murder through neglect that is happening to New Orleans, or it may be outright corruption seasoned with arson and homocide.” Mole333 is WAY too kind. Ain’t no “maybe” about it.
Just last week I was in that neighborhood visiting a friend. I like Greenpoint a great deal. It has a lot of old NY about it. It is a simpler place, not so fully developed as many of the areas contiguous to Manhattan, mostly because it does not have very good subway connections. I remarked to him that every time I am there I like it more and more, and HE said (quite worriedly) “Yeah. But there is this condo thing being fought on the waterfront, and I don’t know how long Greenpoint wiill remain ‘simple’ like this.”
I had driven over, was detoured because of “road construction” right through the area that has just now burned and I got this little creepy feeling even then as I drove through. “What is THIS about? How many road improvements does a warehouse district like this really NEED!!!???”
Well…now maybe we know. And since Bloomberg is a real estate mayor (In point of fact “real estate” is just about the only thing real ABOUT him.) I have no faith whatsoever in the ensuing investigation. Rugs are MADE for sweeping under. And his rug, although quite expensive
is no exception. (Made by the same people who made Sinatra’s.

Pataki/Bloomberg/Giuliani represent real estate interests that will do ANYTHING to Disneyfy NYC.
“Gentrify” used to be the code word. Those same interests will do the same thing to New Orleans. Watch.
Why?
NOT because of “racism”, as mole333 seems to believe. Because of greed.
It makes absolutely no difference to them whether the poor/lower middle class/middle class are Black, White, Hispanic, Jewish, Italian, Irish or any other social subset. And they will do it any way that they can.
They are actually BELIEVERS!!!
BET on it.
They BELIEVE that the rich shall inherit the earth,
They BELIEVE that there is a servant class that should be kept as out-of-sight as possible.
Kept in the far boroughs until the near boroughs are all Disneyed up, thence up the river and out to Long Island and into Jersey until the boroughs are fully “developed”. And where it stops? Nobody knows. Or cares much, either as long as the moolah keeps rolling in. If the technology allows? Why move ‘em ALL to Southeast Asia and Iraq. The further the better. They’re DIRTY, y’know. Those working people. Got DIRT under their nails and you never can tell what they may be thinking.
The question really is not “Are they racists?” Nor is it “Are they using criminal activities to further their goals?” Those are TACTICS. And givens, too. Bet on it. The real criminality…the same one that is rampant on the corporate level, the same one that drives the corporations’ bought and sold governments everywhere…is their STRATEGIC goals. And their ultimate goal is to create a society…a world society, when you get right down to it, because Iraq is just Brooklyn writ very large…that sustains the rich at a very high level, creates a minder class…the house niggers of the world plantation… that is rewarded with a “Sex In The City”-like lifestyle amongst the high rise condos and Times Sunday edition movie and restaurant reviews, and a vast army of low wage proles that either work near where they live or commute into cities to operate the machinery that is necessary to run the physical systems needed for those cities to function.
This has been progressing for about 40 years in NYC. First the Upper West Side. Then Park Slope and environs in Brooklyn, Hoboken, parts of Newark and Jersey City, the Lower East Side, Soho, Tribeca, Hell’s Kitchen. Then Harlem and Upper Manhattan, Astoria, Williamsburgh, Greenpoint, etc. Soon the Bronx and other parts of Queens. Bet on it.
Why?
BECAUSE THERE ARE TRILLIONS IN IT!!!
Duh.
They would displace their own grandmothers if it meant money.
“Sorry Grandma…it’s for your own good. NOW MOVE YOUR PILES ON OUTTA HERE BEFORE I HAVE TO GET ROUGH!!!”
And they will do it by any means necessary.

If they are successful in Iraq…and I do not think that they will be, because the Iraqis are fighting back to the death instead of whining around while their so-called “opposition” parties cooperate in the ongoing scam…but if they WERE successful, within 10 years you would see “The Fallujah Condos!!!” rising right out of where the Islamic opposition staged last ditch firefights to preserve their traditional beliefs and way of life.

And mole333? You say that you are “not one to believe conspiracy theories?”
Well…you’d best BEGIN to believe them.
All “conspiracies” are not hatched by sinister men in back rooms.
Many are TACIT conspiracies. The hardest kind to oppose. A rat like Ratner (The biggest current real estate thief…errrr, real estate developer… in Brooklyn. And who is WRITING these names!!!???) may just say “Get it done.” And HIS hands are clean.
Right on up the ladder.
And right on down the rathole, too.
Plausible deniability. (First perfected in America by the Mafia. If it works? USE IT.)
His underlings don’t tell him.
He doesn’t tell Bloomberg.
Bloomberg doesn’t tell Pataki.
Pataki doesn’t tell whoever it is to whom HE reports in the Ratpublican/Bush Crime Family hierarchy.
And NOBODY tells YOU.

It is as radical…and as radically TRUE…a statement as has been made by a manstream national politician since Dwight Eisnehower said “In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.”
