Want to help stop the war in Iraq?  Here is a quick way you can let your voice be heard.  No matter where you are in the world (we’ve had participation from Australia, Italy, Spain and Argentina, as well as many of the fifty states).

On Friday, June 2, 2006, deliver a flower to U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers’ Lansing office (1327 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, Michigan).  It is part of an ongoing protest.  We’ve delivered about 500 individual flowers so far.  In just five days.  We’ve laid the groundwork.  He knows that every flower he gets is another person who wants this war to end.

You can do it from anywhere.  And it’s easy.  Pick the most convenient method.

By phone — Call Bancroft Flowers (517-371-4120) and order a flower.  They deliver.

By fax — Draw a picture of a flower with your own peace message (optional) and fax it to Rogers’ Lansing office (517-702-8642).

In person — Buy a carnation at Bancroft Flowers (1417 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing) and walk it over to Rogers’ office.  His  office is just one block to the west on Michigan Ave.  Easy as pie.

And for those of you who have had too much fun to limit your activities to just one Congressman, we’ve expanded a bit.  If you get done delivering to Rogers, and want to do more, try getting a flower (by phone/fax/or in person) to Rep. Joe Schwarz (R-MI).  Here is his office info:  6604 W. Saginaw Highway, Lansing, Michigan — Fax (517) 327-7488.

And, of course, you can always send a flower to your own Congressperson. Make sure you explain why you are delivering a flower — as a protest message to stop the war.  Maybe even get a few friends to join you.  It doesn’t take many people to send a loud message.

E-mail us about your participation.  So we can keep track of how many flowers we’re sending.  (tjayolson@hotmail.com)
