This diary has been inspired by Occams Hatchet’s words.

I wish to add to them.

If we are to crystallize the Bush administration’s approach to “leadership” into one iconic image — This is it:

Kneel before the plastic turkey.  He and his masters have taken much time and effort to create such a succulent masterpiece.  Feed your hunger.  Allow yourself to salivate at such a tempting feast.

Do not eat it, though — it is for your mind’s eye only.

Do not touch it either — the illusion must be maintained.
If this WERE a “political thanksgiving”, What should Americans be thankful for?

A leader who pretends to play the role of leader?  Does the once rejected flight-suit satisfy the hunger that Americans currently have?  The leader WAS wearing it for you and it felt good seeing him wear it at the time, did it not?  The golden glazed turkey is there.  George is holding it.  He appears to be presenting it to his hungry workers.  But is it there to satisfy a real need for these soldiers?

What thanks should they express to him?  Maybe he made them happier that day.  He IS their commander in chief.  To have the presence of a man who holds that office demands that one succumb to being giddy and gleeful, I guess.  But does not this innocent emotion dissappear after the turkey is put back into its Wal Mart box?  The whistling sound of a searing-hot fragment of an IED passing by the bleeding ear of that same smiling soldier might make HIM think so.

Remember the Purple Heart band-aids?

And so we have the president and his set designers weaving  a bandage of their own during this latest attempt at terror.  But what kind of demented first-aid worker would cover a wound, only after first squeezing a glob of the terrorist’s own excrement into the abrasion.

Indeed, this wound could have been prevented.

As for the actual terrorist event being thwarted, Americans should be counting there lucky stars.

For it is not really a “failure of imagination” at all.  12 years ago, Yousef brought “imagination” to reality, and one Japanese man paid the price.

So it is, once again, “negligence” that helped cause the panic less than a week ago.

This demented administration is diseased itself.

It FEARS smart policy.

It FEARS the truth.

It FEARS accountability.

Take that shit-stained bandage off!

Why shouldn’t Americans FEAR this administration?

Why shouldn’t Americans FEAR a failure of leadership in a time when a great president and congress is needed to solve very complex problems?

Amateurs of integrity are not what the United States of America requires at this time.

And yet, this country is being forced to sit and endure a facade of false bravado; a cloud of fear without true resolve.  Citizens, awake!  It is the true leader who sees past this emotion and does not use it for politcal gain.  It is a true leader who ignores this ‘easy way out’ and develops a policy — not based on  deceptive PR — but based on sound advice from experts without political stripes.

It should not be “Politicians helping Politicians”.

Rather, it should be “Americans helping Americans”.

The Constitution demands it.

Only by doing this faithfully — without deceit — will you truly be able to help and guide the world.
