“And I, I walked over to the, to the bench there, and there is, Group W’s where they put you if you may not be moral enough to join the army after committing your special crime, and there was all kinds of mean nasty ugly looking people on the bench there.

This year about 17 percent of first-time recruits   “were accepted under waivers for various medical, moral or criminal problems,” in the US Army.

Cortesy of Think Progress:

U.S. ARMY LOWERS STANDARDS TO MEET RECRUITMENT TARGET:

The Army recruited “more than 2,600 soldiers under new lower aptitude standards this year,” helping it barely reach its annual goal of 80,000 recruits. The Army recruited 80,635 soldiers this year after missing its goal by 7,000 enlistees in 2005, the largest margin since 1979. Previously, the Pentagon has “allowed only 2 percent of its recruits to have low aptitude scores.” But after last year’s slump, it raised the limit to 4 percent, and 3.8 percent of this year’s recruits scored below standard aptitude levels. The change made the difference for 2006, putting the total recruitment only 635 enlistees above the goal. Daniel Goure, vice president of the Lexington Institute, noted that “accepting too many recruits with low test scores could increase training costs and leave technical jobs unfilled.”

I wanna see blood and gore and guts and veins in my teeth.  Eat dead burnt bodies. I mean kill, Kill, KILL, KILL.”  And I started jumpin up and down yelling, “KILL, KILL,” and he started jumpin up and down with me and we was both jumping up and down yelling, “KILL, KILL.”  And the sargent came over, pinned a medal on me, sent me down the hall, said, “You’re our boy.”

Didn’t feel too good about it.

I don’t feel too good about what Donald Rumsfeld, under the misguidance of the incompetent george “W” bush administration, has done to our military in general and the US Army in particular..

They have broken it.

It will take years to rebuild it back into a force that can deal with the real security concerns of our nation. All of this at a time when a new nuclear threat is on the horizon.

P.S.: My apologies to Arlo Guthrie!
