It would be easy to say “this country has changed since I was a boy” but it hasn’t changed that much. Growing up during the red scare of the 50’s when the churches were loaded with people that were fearful that the Russians were going to send us an atomic bomb or invade – remember Eisenhower got the interstate highway system built because we would be able to move the troops quickly to defend the nation. The worst though has been the hoarding of the wealth that has taken place – I recall income tax rates being significantly higher for the wealthy so that they couldn’t accumulate a greater percentage of the wealth – that is very unhealthy for our society – to much of a gap between the very wealthy and the poor – can’t identify with each other and all that crazy Marxist stuff. We had better get the brain trust to work or will end of electing someone like that Kansas senator who will sneak in a flat tax that will do nothing more than make that gap wider still.
