Now that Saddam Hussein is dead, the weapons of mass destruction turned into a few hundred rusting, buried chemical artillery shells leftover from the 1990’s and the flowers strewn at the feet of our soldiers never materialized out of the twisted mind of Dick Cheney onto the bomb-ridden streets of Baghdad, we finally find out from Karl Rove who was really behind the Iraq war:

“It was Bin Ladin, all along.”

Presidential confidant Karl Rove painted a bleak picture Wednesday of what would happen if the United States walked away from the global war on terror.

“We are foolish if we think we can turn away from this threat and draw inward, and they will not come,” President Bush’s chief political strategist told an audience of about 400 at the Mount Union Theater.

“If we lose, they will follow,” he said. […]

In his speech, Rove said the White House “is not about easy things. It is about making big, tough decisions.”

On the global war on terror, he said the country faces “a shadowy enemy that lives within a population that strikes from the dark.”

In a question-and-answer period after his speech, Rove was asked whose idea it was to start a pre-emptive war.

“I think it was Osama bin Laden’s,” Rove replied.

They will never stop pushing 9/11 as the justification for everything they screw up. Never. At this point its the only talking point they have left, that 9/11 changed everything. That Osama is the some sinister Dr. Evil and George Bush as our Austin Powers with a more serious speech defect, the only man who can stop our world from succumbing to the hordes of Islamofascists poised to overrun our borders with their swarthy faces and their AK-47’s, ready behead anyone who doesn’t drop to their knees and pray to Allah five times each day. Unless …

… unless we stay the course in Iraq, of course.

Karl, keep peddling this line of bullpuckey. Please. In fact, send President Bush and his Sith Overlord Vice President Cheney out to make more speeches and hold more “town hall meetings” where they can parade the tattered spectre of Osama Bin Ladin in front of more Real Americans. Because the more you do, the more your repeated fear-mongering will be revealed, not only as a failed political strategy, but also as a poor imitation of The Great and Powerful OZ. The more people will realize that “You got nothing!”

In the words of another famous American phony tough guy: Bring ’em on!
