Like many of you I received an email this week from the DSCC signed by Chuck Schumer. He claimed to be outraged by the commutation of Libby’s sentence and wanted me to sign a petition and send the DSCC some money.
Here is why I can’t take his claims of outrage seriously. Chuck Schumer sits of the Board of Advisors of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a neo-con organization populated by such notorious Libby apologists as Richard Carlson, Bill Kristol, Richard Perle, Charles Krauthammer, and Victoria Toensing. I really don’t see how you can pretend to care about Libby’s treasonous behavior and keep company with people like that. Moreover, I am tired of Democrats letting organizations like that use their names to get the patina of respectability.
