Matt Blunt, the incompetent, irresponsible, stupid Republican governor of MO, is NOT running for re-election.
Following his election in 2004, Blunt has “bluntered” time and time again. He eliminated Medicare, and by doing so did not get about 1 BILLION dollars in matching Federal funds. He broke the law about records retention, and fired people who told him so. He is, at this time, running 10 full points behind Jay Nixon, the next Democratic Governor of the State of MO.
He was doing SO badly in the re-election bid that I am SURE that the Republican Party of MO told him not to run for re-election. Amazingly, although he has done nothing but destroy things and wreck the health care system, he said that he is not running because he has accomplished everything he set out to do, and there is nothing to be done in the second term. Of all the stupid, ridiculous excuses I have ever heard, that certainly would be the stupidest and most ridiculous.
I don’t know who will run. Here are two guesses:
- Sam Graves, MO-02, who is running against a stiff opponent (current mayor of KC)
- Jim Talent, who lost to Claire McCaskill
