What is happening?
Obama is being defined as a “flip-flopper”, as a “untrustworthy Democrat.” Because, at the moment, of his “change” or “lies” or “breaking his promise” on public financing.
This is intolerable, but expected! On “Fox News Sunday,” the “flip-flop” term was part of the lead-in to the story. “Obama’s flip-flop on campaign financing.”
Partly I blame Hillary on this. She started this, but of course McCain and his hyper-partisan wack squad would come up with this too.
McCain is NOT being defined this way. We don’t hear “breaking promises” about McCain. We don’t hear “changing his answer” about John McDepends. We don’t hear any of this shit about him. Just about Barack.
It’s happening right now. How can we change this meme? Does anyone know how to get to these assholes and get them to stop saying this shit?
Someone needs to craft a plausible answer. Here is mine: “Senator Obama has abandoned the failed public financing system for a separate public financing system. His system of public financing, in which millions of patriotic Americans have given him small donations of less than $500 each, is designed to get as many Americans involved in politics as possible. It also allows Senator Obama to fight back against the many Republican groups which use lies and distortions to slander political candidates. Senator Obama has requested that Democratic groups not use these tactics, but Senator McCain will not make similar requests.” Ah, good: Tom Daschle just used this very line.
