The McCain campaign is working on indicting Obama for his friends. Obama, like many politicians, has friends which have gotten into trouble since meeting Obama (Rezko) and got into trouble well before meeting Obama (Ayers). Did Obama do anything inappropriate with either? There is no evidence of this despite 2 years of oppo research looking for this smoking gun.
What about John McCain?
The term “target-rich environment” does not do justice to McCain’s problems here. Let’s review the known cases:
- Keating: I will not add to this. Plenty of discussions out there, and this is a really important scandal. It is simply the McCain modus operandi.
- Diamond I: Dan Diamond is a huge developer who has been a supporter of McCain for many years. His support has not been simply supporting a politician who shares his vision of America. McCain has returned, on a dollar basis, about $100 for every $1 invested in him by Diamond.

Of course, what is most amazing about this is that in many cases, McCain HAS upheld the side of the American people. He raised questions about the corrupt, scummy Snowbasin land swap, which greatly enriched the owner of the Snowbasin ski resort before the 2002 Olympics.
