The White House has released a series of documents (all in .pdf form) that can help you understand the estimated impact of the stimulus package in your district and state. The “estimates are derived from an analysis of the overall employment impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act conducted by Christina Romer, Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, and Jared Bernstein, Chief Economist for the Vice President, and detailed estimates of the working age population, employment, and industrial composition of each state.”

Just looking at the ‘Employment Numbers by Congressional District’ I can see that the White House estimates that 8,200 jobs will be created in Pennsylvania’s Sixth District, where I live. Unfortunately, my congressman is Jim Gerlach (R-PA) and Rep. Gerlach voted against the stimulus bill. I hope he can explain to his constituents why he voted against creating 8,200 jobs in his district. So far, his office has no answer. Maybe your household will have better luck. If you live in a district represented by a congressperson that voted against the stimulus, take a look at the .pdf and see how many jobs they didn’t want to create in your district. Then, give them a call and ask them what the fuck they were thinking. When you’re done with that, write down their lame ass response and send it to your local newspapers.
You can get a lot more information about your state than your district in these documents. Feel free to ask your bonehead senator why he or she voted against creating all those jobs and getting all that money for education, health care, and infrastructure for your state.
