update from new zealand ..  the left-wing Labour party has the advantage, but the situation is not that simple. Labour can’t govern alone. They need 61 seats, and they have 50. It breaks down like this…
Labour 50 seats
Greens 6 seats
Progressives (left wing)1 seat
United future (centrist, christian party) 3 seats
NZ First (centrist, led by a bigoted asshole) 7 seats.
Maori party 4 votes

vs

National 49 seats
ACT (hard right but at least they have ideas) 2 seats

the problem is that United Future and NZ first can go either way, and United Future has said they won’t go into a coalition that includes the greens. Plus the fact that there are 200,000 special votes left to count. Right now it’s a definite advantage to the left but it’s all in a bit of a state of flux.
Personally I can’t believe it was so close, we have the lowest unemployment rate in the world, a growing economy, and the most business-friendly environment in the world. Go the greens!
