Just when you think they can’t go any lower …

It may be hard to believe but some far right conspiracy theorists are allegeding that the Tucson Massacre where Gabrielle Giffords was shot at point blank range and almost assassinated was a hoax. Some of them have even taken the outrageous step of stalking wounded victims of the massacre and accusing them of lying about what they consider a massive “red flag” operation by Homeland Security to take away their guns.

I wish I were kidding, but I’m not. Read about it here in the NY Times:

Some conspiracy Web sites are claiming that the shootings that nearly killed Representative Gabrielle Giffords and did end the lives of a federal judge, a 9-year-old girl and four others never actually took place. One particularly bizarre site, run by a Texas man, says it was all a government hoax that used actors.

Such obviously fantastic claims would usually not merit the attention of law enforcement, but they have in this instance because some believers have been confronting, and alarming, some of the people associated with the case in recent weeks. […]

…One shooting victim said he notified the F.B.I. recently after two men showed up at his Tucson home claiming to be investigators and saying they were trying to determine whether the shooting was a hoax.

“They tried to get into my home,” said the victim, who asked that he not be identified because it might attract more such visitors. “They wanted to know if I had any pictures. They said they didn’t believe the event took place.”

The victim said that when he pressed the visitors for identification, one of them presented a business card that listed the Texas conspiracy site, which describes the shooting as an exercise conducted by the Department of Homeland Security. Other people connected to the case, including hospital personnel, victims’ relatives and possible trial witnesses, have received similar visits or seen their images on the Web site, officials said.

Just disgusting. And what justifies their beliefs that this was all a lie? That 19 people were shot and six died including a a Federal Judge and 9 year-old Christina-Taylor Green. Well here’s their “proof” that it was all a “red flag” production by Homeland Security. First check this site which argues Gabrielle Giffords could not possibly survived so her shooting must have been faked to justify the confiscation of her guns:

But what is really beginning to make me think that this whole Tucson event is nothing but another staged “false-flag” event, designed to give the Government the impetus, and public consent, to restrict, or even eliminate, gun rights in the US, is the fact that all the evidence is being hidden.

Where are the bodies?

Where is the video from the event? There must have been at least a few people attending this event with cameras rolling… why then have they all been confiscated by authorities and kept under wraps? Why are we not allowed to see the proof that this event indeed actually happened?

Where are the bodies? Well as Richard Kastigar, Chieif of the Pima County Sheriff’s Investigative Unit said, “There were bodies sent to the morgue, people’s loved ones.”

Of course he must be lying too, because another a**hole claims that all the shooting victims, police, EMT personnel and doctors were played by actors!

After thousands of hours of on-going research, I have shared my findings with other professionals that have been following the same leads. We have found our evidence coincides with each other and tells an entirely different story than the mainstream and AP feed to the American people the day the event took place.

The purpose of the page is not to accuse but to inform the public of some of our findings and inconsistencies in the witness testimonies, friends of Jared Lee Loughner, victim stories, along with a potential relationship link to DHS, and several media groups located in Arizona.

We would like to stress that the alleged evidence and findings we have posted here is not intended to accuse those individuals of criminal activity. It is only to show alleged relationships with some of the victims, friends, and witnesses, law enforcement, and many others that may be involved in the event that took place. […]

After the event took place, I felt like most of America, that we were not being told the truth. So I managed to contact Steven Cates (the guy with the pink hair) through Face book. We chatted a few times but he never would admit to being an actor in this event, so I kept digging. After a few days of searching google for his name I ran across a web site that listed Steven as well as 3 other individuals as part of a media group called Radian-Helix media. Once I found their Face book site then each of the individuals listed as being a contributor to the company, the pieces started to fall in place. One by one the people we were being shown on the TV as being an eye witness, Dr, Giffords staffer, event attendee, first responder, etc were looking like friends of one of the Radian Helix Media partners, Dave Weiss.

Go check out his evidence all you like, but in my opinion it’s a steaming pile of dog crap. And the absurd slanders he is tossing about are causing pain and re-opening the psychological scars of everyone who was at the site of this horrific terrorist act, the victims, the first responders, the doctors and the family members of those who were shot or killed. What is so despicable is that his ginned up “evidence’ encourages other nutcases to stalk and harass the victims of this massacre.

I don’t know if these people are committing any criminal offense (though I think stalking the victims might qualify), but I sure hope someone sues this jerk and anyone else promulgating these libelous statements for all they are worth.

And all you right wing gun nuts here’s my message to you: stop with the false allegations and outright lies that Obama is secretly planning to confiscate your guns. You have nothing, no evidence, to back up that ridiculous claim. Yet some of your loonier brethren (and most of you who push this claim are looney enough as it is) took you seriously enough to concoct this fantasy that Homeland Security perpetrated a hoax on the American people merely to justify the seizure of your precious guns. Well it ain’t true and you have no evidence to prove it, even fake evidence.

Meanwhile the victims and emergency responders of the Tucson Massacre continue to be tormented by the trauma of what they witnessed. That there fellow Americans, out of hate for our President or fear whipped up by Fox News and idiots like the man promoting this “it was all actors” conspiracy are only adding to their suffering.
