Things are getting a little weird with conservative radio shock-jock Michael Savage offering Newt Gingrich a million bucks to drop out of the race and Glenn Beck saying that Gingrich is a progressive and the tea partiers are racist for opposing Obama’s reelection. Meanwhile, the actual tea partiers can’t get them enough Newt. They adore him because he’s such a dick and he’s so good at tapping into their feelings of resentment. Which, come to think of it, is precisely why tea partiers like Michael Savage and Glenn Beck. The cognitive dissonance is threatening to rip a tear in the space-wingnut continuum.
I guess Beck and Romney are both Mormons, so maybe it’s a tribal thing for Beck. Who cares if Romney is a flip-flopper and a quish? He worships in the right church, and that’s good enough. I don’t know what’s bothering Savage, but it might be polls that show Obama crushing Gingrich all over the country. But, really, Gingrich practically invented to dog whistle politics that made Beck and Savage fabulously rich. And now they turn around and betray the Sith Lord?
