No, it doesn’t come from Barack Obama or Mitt Romney.  It doesn’t come from Joe Biden or Paul Ryan.  It doesn’t come from any of the multitude of political pundits and surrogate speakers for the campaigns.

It came from a lay leader in a small black church, in a tone mixed with urgency, exasperation and hope, on the last Sunday before election day, exhorting members of the congregation to get out and vote:

I’m not telling you who to vote for…but you ought to know who to vote for.”*

Truer words were not spoken throughout this campaign season.

*Also known as “walking right up to that IRS tax-exempt political activity line without stepping over”.
